Levi Hawken
Levi (b. 1975, Auckland) began his artistic career during the mid-90s as a graffiti artist and skateboarder. Although much of his tradional graffiti work is no longer visible, the influences and forms remain strong. In the past decade his work has evolved from painting to sculpture, letting go of colour and working largely in concrete, glass and metals. A fascination with architecture and brutalist forms has opened doors to a whole new realm of creativity, including new ways of exhibiting concrete installations in the streets hidden in plain sight. Stay tuned, it's just starting to get interesting.
